High-rise building on the Andreasstrasse Zurich
Study Contract 1st Place
The new 80m high Andreasturm will be built directly adjacent to the tracks at the eastern end of Oerlikon railway station. The twenty-two storey building will be used for offices, supplemented by a restaurant and meeting rooms on the ground floor and first floor.
The load-bearing structure is designed as a classic skeleton construction of reinforced concrete. The vertical loads will be borne by the in-situ cast concrete flat ceilings via prefabricated supports and the two central cores, which also ensure the horizontal stabilisation of the building. In-situ cast concrete bored piles transfer the load to the subgrade.
Pre-stressed joist ceilings span the large pillar-free rooms on the first floor and allow the 10m overhang above the ground floor. The proximity of the building to the very busy railway tracks necessitates an elastic decoupling of the building.
