Al Sowah Island Bridges 3 and 4, Abu Dhabi
Sowah Island is located northeast of the centre of Abu Dhabi and will be accessible by a total of 13 bridges from Abu Dhabi and Reem Island. Bridges 3 and 4, which were designed by Prof. Dr. C. Menn, lead directly to the centrally located Sowwah Square with Abu Dhabi’s new stock exchange, thus taking a prominent and prestigious position as an entrance to the island.
Bridge 3 is designed as a cable-stayed reinforced concrete bridge, whose special architectural feature is a 120-m tall, A-shaped pylon. The main load-bearing element of Bridge 4 is a very slender, parabolic steel arch with a span of 120 m and 80 m in height. The layout of the bridge forms an arc with a radius of 1050 m.
