Sika Limmat, Zurich
The new Sika Schweiz AG building on the Tüffenwies site, where Sika has been based since its foundation in 1910, includes laboratories, offices for the Group management and an employee restaurant with an attractive terrace facing the River Limmat.
The seven-storey building comprises a ground floor, four upper floors as well as a loft floor and a floor to house equipment. The main supporting structure is a solid construction with flat slabs of in-situ concrete and prefabricated columns. A pile foundation ensures load trans-fer into the ground. Coloured concrete elements meandering in both vertical and horizontal directions give the façade an unmistakable appearance and express Sika's expertise. To the west, the building is designed in such a way that extensions are possible.
