Construction of New Hangenmoos Housing Estate, Wädenswil
New residential development on a prominent hillside location in Wädenswil consisting of 20 buildings in solid structures, connected by a common underground car park. The choice of the materials used for the load-bearing elements in the façade and inside the building allow for an economical, flexible and sustainable floor plan design.
The in-situ concrete flat slabs mainly rest on the load-bearing façades and core walls of the residential units. The non-load-bearing walls in between can thus be changed very easily afterwards and without having to modify the overall supporting structure. A single-storey underground car park connects the lower three building levels and serves as an internal access route. The construction follows the course of the terrain and intercepts the building above it at selected points. The grading of the lower edge of the building is done in such a way that the majority of the floor slabs come to rest in the molasse rock. This means that the buildings can be very easily constructed with flat foundations. This involved a slope cut of up to 8 m into the challenging geological environment, which was carried out with grouted anchors and nailed slopes.
