Sports Centre Eselriet, Effrektikon
1st Place in Competition
The hallmark of the Sports Centre Eselriet in Effretikon is the new ice rink roof with its mem-brane construction design.
The main supporting structure of the roof consists of trussed girders made of pipe sections which straddle the ice rink transversely. The secondary supporting structure is a membrane surface with a layout of 35 m x 63 m. The membrane is divided into six inside panels spanning 10.6 m and two border panels, 5.30 m each. At mid-span, the membrane is tightened into form by a tensioning cable at respective points. The membrane panel is surrounded by a con-crete collar, which receives the loads from the trussed girders and tensioning cables and trans-fers them into the concrete support columns. The existing stands were roofed over with a new concrete ceiling, which adjoins the main support columns. This concrete ceiling extends on the opposite longitudinal side and the transverse sides, thus offering space for 500 to 750 spectators.
