Europaallee Site G with Altersresidenz Zurich
1st Place in Competition
The building complex “Building Site G” is part of the Europaallee urban development project. It consists of the nineteen-storey Gull Tower, the twelve-storey Altersresidenz [retirement home], a four-storey plinth building forming a base for the two towers and two underground Floors.
The supporting structure consists of a skeleton construction made of in-situ concrete and prefabricated element support columns. The support columns are not in a regular grid. Their arrangement is the result of improvements over many floors with different uses and the desire to avoid bracing. To protect the aquifer, an extremely thin piled raft foundation was executed.
