Refurbishment and Renovation of Grossmatt School Complex, Hergiswil
1st Place in Competition
This school building from the 1970s has been renovated to create a modern learning environment for the pupils of the municipality of Hergiswil. The premises and access have been remodelled through various conversions and extensions, and at the same time the load-bearing structure upgraded to bring it in line with the current state of the art.
With the installation of new earthquake-resistant walls made of reinforced concrete, the build-ing will then fully meet today's earthquake resistance requirements. It was also possible to take the latest scientific findings in earthquake research into account by allowing for the loca-tion-specific design response spectrum. The various adaptations and additions to the load-bearing structure are being executed in a reinforced concrete construction, which will be used to realise the necessary remodelling and strengthen the structural fabric where necessary.
