Thur Wooden Bridge, Andelfingen
This historically valuable wooden bridge over the river Thur was built in 1814/15 and since then has connected the districts of Andelfingen and Kleinandelfingen. In 2018, various structural reinforcement measures were carried out to ensure that the bridge could be preserved and continue to perform its important role for regional traffic.
Two wooden bridges running side by side span the Thur as two-span beams with a span of 33 m each. The main supporting structure of the bridges is comprised of two trusses. Between 2015 and 2017, the bridge was checked for structural integrity and necessary reinforcement measures were planned. The measures, which included reinforcement of the truss struts, portal frames and wind bracing, were implemented in 2018.
